5 Ton Spider Crane

The 5 ton spider crane from JOJO Machinery, a China manufacturer selling factory-direct, is where the range becomes a crawler crane in its own right: 6.7 t of carrier, 17 m of lift height and 15 m of radius. A 58 kW diesel engine, two-speed winch and two-section outriggers. Request the price list with your heaviest pick.
  • Detailed Description

Where This Size Stops Being A Fit-Out Machine

Up to four tonnes, a spider crane is a tool for reaching places a lorry crane cannot park. At five tonnes it starts doing the lifting as well. The carrier weight jumps to 6.7 t, the rope goes from 8 mm to 11 mm, the winch is rated to match, and hook speed rises to 12 m/min on a two-speed winch because the loads are now heavy enough that lifting time matters.

That combination changes the work. Precast stair flights, large glazed units in frames, rooftop chiller packages, container unloading under a canopy, machinery skates and press tools. The machine still walks on tracks and still fits through a double door, but it is no longer a lightweight.

Buyers who move up to this size usually say the same thing: they were making two lifts where one would do. If your panel needs a spreader beam, you are in this class.

5-1

Five Sections And A 54 Second Boom

The boom assembles as a 4 m base with five sections, extending from 4.5 m to 17 m in about fifty-four seconds and luffing 0 to 78 degrees in thirteen. Slewing is continuous through 360 degrees in roughly thirty-eight seconds, faster than the smaller models because a five-tonne machine working a facade spends more of its day turning.

The longer boom cycle is a function of scale rather than a design limitation: more sections, more travel, heavier structure. On site it reads as one extra minute per full extension, which is why we publish the figure rather than hide it behind a capacity number.

5-2

Two-Section Outriggers And 5.8 Metres Of Spread

Outriggers on this model are two-section legs, manual screw-out with cylinder support, spreading to roughly 5,800 mm along the machine, 4,900 mm at the rear and 5,600 mm at the front. Spread is what allows a 6.7 t carrier with 17 m of reach to be rated the way it is, and on a suspended slab it is the figure your structural engineer will want first.

Walking is hydraulic with high and low speed selected at the control, 0 to 2.5 km/h, on steel tracks 300 mm wide with a 52.5 mm pitch and 90 sections per side, graded to 25 degrees or 36 percent. Folded, the machine is 4.7 m long, 1.5 m wide and 2.25 m high.

5-3

The 58 kW Diesel And 24 Volt Electrics

Power comes from a Yuchai 490CC four-cylinder diesel rated 58 kW, with electric start rated from -50 C to +45 C, a 35 L tank, 24 V 45 Ah battery and two-speed hydraulic system for the higher loads. The electrical system moves to 24 V at this size because the winch and slew draw more current than the smaller machines, and voltage drop on 12 V would show up as sluggish response.

There is no petrol engine at this rating. Above two or three tonnes, diesel is the only sensible answer on torque, duty cycle and fuel cost, and we quote it that way rather than offering an engine that would be worked to its limit.

Options, Finish And Electric Conversion

Torque controller, remote control, cradle and hydraulic flying jib are built to order. For sites where diesel is not permitted inside, the same machine is produced in a pure electric version on a 48 V system with a 5.5 kW motor, lithium battery rated 600 Ah and a measured noise level around 50 dB, which is the version most often specified for food plants, museums and shopping centres.

FAQ

Q: What is the realistic load at 15 m radius? A: The chart states it, and it is a fraction of the 5 t rating. We confirm your heaviest pick at its working radius before quoting rather than after delivery.

Q: Is a pure electric version available? A: Yes. The 5-ton pure electric model uses a 48 V system, 5.5 kW motor, 600 Ah lithium battery and runs at roughly 50 dB, which suits indoor sites where diesel is banned.

Q: How much does it weigh for transport? A: 6.7 t as a carrier, 4.7 m long, 1.5 m wide and 2.25 m high folded. That fits a 20-foot container with the boom retracted.

Q: Does it need a crane to unload itself? A: It walks off a ramp under its own power. Most buyers discharge the container at the port of arrival and track the machine directly to site.

Q: What support comes after delivery? A: Exploded-view catalogues, ten years of wear-part availability, and consumables in standard metric sizes. The export team answers technical questions against the machine serial number.

Q: Lead time and terms? A: 20 to 30 days for a standard build plus 10 to 15 days for customisation, 30 percent deposit with the order and 70 percent against shipping documents.

Ordering

To quote a 5 ton spider crane we need the lift list with weight and radius for the heaviest pick, the height required, the access route, the ground the outriggers stand on and whether diesel may run on site. Send those with the destination port, and the quotation comes back with the electric option priced alongside the diesel. Minimum order is one unit, and every machine ships crated with a 12-month warranty.
